Pharrell Williams funks up his first offering as creative director for Louis Vuitton at Paris fashion week

After his earlier collaborations with Louis Vuitton in 2004 and 2008, Pharrell comes home as the new Men's Creative Director, presenting his first offering this week on the open-air runway at Paris fashion week. Pharrell's role in bringing together hip-hop and fashion has opened the doors for more Black artists to create a space for themselves in an industry that continues to keep them out

In 2004, Pharrell made the "Millionaire" sunglasses for Louis Vuitton, his first collaboration with a major haute couture house under then creative director Marc Jacobs. Years later, Virgil Abloh, LV's first Black creative director, brought back the Millionaire sunglasses from the archives for his Louis Vuitton debut, labelling them as '1.1 Millionaires'.

In 2019, a self-confessed space nerd, Pharrell, collaborated with Richard Mille on a watch called the RM 52-05, featuring an astronaut on the dial. Limited to just 30 pieces, this watch, set in red and white gold with diamonds and titanium, retails for $969,000.

An event at the American Museum of Natural History to announce "RAW for the Oceans", a long-term collaboration between Bionic Yarn and G-Star turning ocean plastic into Denim, curated by Pharrell Williams, on February 8, 2014, in New York City. Pharrell's keen engagement with sustainability related to fashion isn't a token.
